Dear Families,

Thank you to everyone who was able to join us for parent-teacher conferences. It was great to get to connect with so many families. We are looking forward to another great week, with four more days of school next week, as we do not have school on Monday due to Indigenous Peoples' Day. Please remember to bring warmer layers and extra clothing as the weather becomes more unpredictable.

Please read below for details about some of our upcoming events and opportunities.

We Made Our First PBIS Blue Heart Goal of the Year!

On Thursday this week, we had an assembly where we announced that 5,186 hearts were given out since the start of the school year, and our school-wide goal was 5,000. We will celebrate next week with a school-wide popsicle party. Keep up the good work, Dolphins!

October is Anti-Bullying month

At Devonshire, we always focus on building inclusivity as a school and being kind and respectful. During the month of October, we are doing a school-wide read-aloud of The Invisible Boy and grade-level appropriate follow-up activities that align with our school-wide goal of being an upstander. When staff see a student being an upstander, they will get a blue heart that goes towards our school goal of getting 5,000 hearts before November 30. What's an upstander?

If there is a specific book that you cannot find at our fair, you can also shop our fair at Scholastic online and Devonshire will still benefit from your purchase if you shop before October 22. Here is the link to our book fair. From here, you can also follow the link to set up ewallets for your student.

Arrival and Dismissal

Drop off and pick up occur on Kenneth Avenue. Please only stop at the playground entrance closest to Davis. For the safety of our students, please do not double park, do not park on the side of the street with the houses, and stay in a single line. Students will line up according to grade level. Click here to see a map and detailed directions for picking up and dropping off.

Students should be dropped off between 8:30-8:37 a.m. If you arrive after 8:40 a.m., please park and bring your child to the main entrance. Please note that if the weather is bad (under 10 degrees with windchill, rain, or wet/blowing snow), students will come into the school building beginning at 8:30 a.m.

3rd - 5th grade students can walk home or walk to a parent in a parked car, if they have a signed permission slip. If you choose, you may submit this permission slip to your child’s teacher.

Student Spirit Dress Up Days

Every Friday, we encourage staff and students to wear blue or their dolphin t-shirt. Thank you again, PTA.

We also have some fun Wednesdays every month to share. This month, on October 15th, please wear something for sports day. Check out the flier on the left for more dates and themes!
